“Maritime education and training” the theme for World Maritime Day 2015

By Maritime Resource Management (MRM) No Comments

The IMO Secretary-General Koji Sekimizu has just announced that the theme for the World Maritime Day 2015 will be “Maritime education and training”. This is good news! We hope that the debate and the activities that will take place as a result of this decision shall focus on the need for effective resource management training as a means to reduce incidents and move the industry forward.

Minimizing ALL Academy’s ecological footprint

By ALL Academy No Comments

ALL Academy is concerned about its ecological footprint. Even if this footprint is small compared to most larger companies and manufacturing industries, steps taken in the right direction by small companies and individuals will eventually have a huge impact. A deep concern for the environment is a natural part of ALL Academy’s company culture and goes hand in hand with our objective to help clients establish organizations where safety, efficiency and job satisfaction are key priorities.

To further improve our environmental policies and procedures, ALL Academy took part in a project initiated by Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg and “Miljöbron”. “Miljöbron”, or “the environmental bridge”, serves as a link between companies and university students and aims at contributing to a sustainable development.

Four Chalmers students attending the Maritime Environment and Environmental Management programme made during autumn 2014 an environmental review of ALL Academy. Their findings and recommendations were presented at Chalmers University of Technology on 23 October 2014. We are most grateful to the students for a job well done.

Third time in one year with Wallenius Marine in Manila

By Maritime Resource Management (MRM), Seminars/Conferences No Comments

Some of the most enjoyable events are the meetings with seafarers and shore-side staff at crew conferences. It has been a privilege for ALL Academy to embark upon an MRM project with Wallenius Marine in Stockholm and Singapore where the focus so far has been on introducing the MRM concept to their seafarers. In less than a year, this has been done three times in connection with officer conferences in Manila. The third such event was held at the Makati Shangri-La Hotel and a full day, 8 October 2014, was dedicated to MRM. The day ended with a case study analyzed from an MRM perspective. A selection of photos from the event are shown below.

At the mouth of the North Sea Canal to Amsterdam lies IJmuiden – the location of the Nova Contract Maritime Academy. Nova Contract has been an MRM Licensee for a long time and on 12 September 2014, Martin Hernqvist of ALL Academy had the pleasure of introducing new trainers of Nova Contract to MRM. It was a highly informal event with lots of laughs combined with serious discussions. Many thanks to all participants for a great day!
